Mission

The objectives of Association of Polish Hydrologists are as follows:

  1. Propagation of hydrology and its achievements, raising general level of knowledge of hydrology in society and supporting development of this field in Poland.
  2. Integration of the community of hydrologists employed in scientific and research institutions, state and municipal administration as well as hydrologic companies and consulting agencies.
  3. Representation of the hydrologists community forming the Associtation of Polish Hydrologists in the society before state and municipality authorities, as well as other public and private organizations in Poland and abroad.
  4. Raising the level of knowledge and qualifications when it comes to hydrology.
  5. Helping the APH members to network and to cooperate with scientific and research institutions in Poland and abroad.
  6. Initiating, drawing up and giving opinion on legislative acts, norms, instructions and regulations concerning hydrological qualifications.
  7. Strengthening the role of hydrology in the area of water management and water engineering as well as in enviromental protection and spatial development.
  8. Protection of rights of SHP members, taking care of their authority and high etical and professional level.

Roots

The idea to establish an organization which would unite hydrologists came up during XXXIV School of Hydrology in Mądralin in May of 2006.

The founding meeting of Association of Polish Hydrologists took place in Warsaw, in the building of IMGW (Institute of Meteorology and Water Management) on Podleśna 61 Street on the 18th of September 2006. Twenty-eight hydrologists from all over Poland participated in it. The participants appointed the Founding Committee of Association of Polish Hydrologists. Also, the Statue of the Association was passed, the Main Board and peer disciplinary board was chosen.        

Professor Beniamin Więzik was appointed the President of the APH

Professor Kazimierz Banasik and Doctor Barbara Nowicka were appointed the vice-presidents.

began the works on registering the Association of Polish Hydrologists. 

On the 8th December 2006 a meeting of APH took place, during which amendments in the Statue were made in order to enable the Association to be registered in the National Court Register.  

The Association of the Polish Hydrologists was registered on 10th January 2007 in The District Court for the Capital City of Warsaw, XII Economic Department of National Court Register.
